Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of Protutor (the "Platform"). By registering for or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself or, if you are registering an institution, on behalf of that institution.

1. Accounts

• Institutions register directly and are responsible for the accuracy of their organization's information and for administering the teacher and student accounts within it.
• Teachers register and select an institution; access is granted once that institution's administrator approves the request.
• Tutors register independently, with no institution required, and are responsible for administering their own classrooms and student accounts, including obtaining any parent or guardian consent required by law before registering a student.
• Students are created by their institution, teacher, or tutor, not by self-registration. Whoever registers a student account is responsible for obtaining any parent or guardian consent required by law before doing so.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, abuse, or harm another user;
• Upload content you don't have the right to share, or content that is defamatory, obscene, or infringes another party's rights;
• Attempt to access another user's account, classroom, or institution's data without authorization;
• Interfere with the Platform's operation, including through scraping, automated abuse, or attempts to bypass security controls.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Content you submit

Assignments, submissions, messages, and resources you upload remain owned by you or, where applicable, your institution. By submitting content you grant Protutor a license to store, display, and process it solely as needed to operate the Platform (for example, showing a submission to the grading teacher). You are responsible for having the rights to any content you upload.

4. Live sessions

Live online sessions are hosted directly inside the Platform. Standard classroom-conduct expectations apply during live sessions just as they would in person. A teacher hosting a session is responsible for the conduct of that session.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Institutions and tutors may access certain features on a paid subscription plan, billed and processed through our third-party payment processor. Fees, billing cycles, and cancellation terms are presented at the time of subscribing. Except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable for the current billing period once charged.

6. AI-assisted features

The public website includes an AI chat assistant that answers general questions about Protutor. It is provided for convenience only, may occasionally produce inaccurate responses, is not a substitute for official guidance from your institution, and should not be relied on for decisions with legal, academic, or financial consequences.

7. Termination

An institution may close its account at any time by contacting us; doing so will also deactivate teacher and student accounts under that institution. We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform for any account that violates these Terms.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform, including interruptions, data loss, or third-party service outages, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Platform after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Protutor operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local law requires otherwise.
